What a mouthful. That’s what I have been diagnosed with. Turns out all my chronic joint pain (shoulder, knee, and back) can be explained by this diagnosis. This article does a great job of describing the syndrome, but basically what it means is that there are problems with the connective tissue in my joints. Problems such that my joints tend to hyperextend and I am much more prone to injuries than the average person. That’s why my back and my shoulder and my knee have been so messed up.
It is genetic, and I think it is likely that my mom and my sister also have it. So now I have to continue physical therapy for that once a week to strengthen certain muscles and connective tissues. It is kind of cool because I get deep tissue massage to loosen up the collagen in my tissue (or some crap like that), which feels awesome, but the not so fun part is all of the repetitive, repetitive exercises. Those are boring and make me feel sad because they are really easy to do but I struggle with them because I am so weak. Boo on that. It will get better though, or at least, here’s hoping.
